Separate Paper From Other Recyclables

Photo of two recycling bins with paper in one and containers in the other

Above: One way to keep paper products separate from your containers is to put each in its own recycling bin as shown above. The recycling bins can also be stacked on top of each other to keep the paper from blowing around.

Above: Another option is put paper products in a paper bag, such as the two shown above. Never put any recycling in plastic bags. Plastic bags get tangled in Solid Waste Services sorting equipment.

Leave Space Between Your Garbage, Recycling & Yard Trimmings

Image of garbage, recycling and yard trimmings with plenty of space left around each

Above: Plenty of space has been left between each item so the recycling can easily be seen.

The space also means that the garbage truck will be able to empty the garbage cart easily.

Above: The garbage, recycling and yard trimmings are too close to each other.

The garbage truck will have trouble emptying the cart, and the garbage cart may block the recycling and yard trimmings from view.
