RESOLUTION
Whereas, the City of Austin has a strong history of supporting
community access media; and
Whereas, the City of Austin is host to nationally recognized
community access television, cable television; and
Whereas, the City of Austin is now among the most wired and wireless
cities in the country; and
Whereas, the City of Austin has become known nationally as a
center for multimedia development; and
Whereas, the City of Austin will continue to be an important
center for development of streaming media; and
Whereas, bridging the digital divide positively impacts Austin's
residents' ability to produce and publish steaming media content; and
Whereas, the next logical step after community access cable television
is community access streaming media; NOW
THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THAT THE AUSTIN TELECOMMUNICATIONS
COMMISSION:
Supports the concept of Community Access Streaming Media and urges the
City of Austin to adopt practices that further its development.
