Texas "No Call Lists"

In 2002, the state of Texas began sponsoring "No Call Lists" on which individuals who do not wish to receive telemarketing calls may place their phone number.

There are two "No Call Lists" sponsored by the PUC. The first is a statewide "Do Not Call List" on which you can place your residential telephone number. There is a registration charge of $2.25 for each residential number you place on the list, and your number will remain on the list for three (3) years. The second list is an electric, "No Call List." Both business and residential numbers can be placed on this list that is aimed at preventing Electric Retail Providers and telemarketers from calling about your electric service. The fee to place a number on this list is $2.55, and the number will remain on the list for five (5) years.

Telemarketers will be given the "No Call Lists" starting in April 2002, and calls should stop within 60 days of the date your number appears on the list. If, after the 60^th day, you continue to hear from telemarketers, then please call the PUC or the Attorney General.
