Q: If they dig up a street with speed bumps on it, will the speed bumps be replaced?
A: Yes. We will restore the street to its previous condition or better.
Q: On a high traffic street like Guadalupe, what impacts will there be?
A: Typically, we shut down one lane and detour one lane. There is almost always one lane that is operational. Sometimes
right-of-way (ROW) allows road closures by block, but typically no more than one block at a time. Working hours will be
listed in the contract as 7am to 7pm, seven days a week.
Q: I live between Guadalupe and Chesterfield. Will both streets be cut up at the same time?
A: No. We will make sure that you always have access to one or the other.
Q: What happens when a sewer pipe is abandoned?
A: We remove the manhole cover and fill the hole with concrete and then dirt. If the contractors can't get to it with
a truck, they will use a wheelbarrow or mix "Quick-crete" on site. The city has specific procedures in place for the
abandonment of sewer pipes.
Q: There is a sewer line to be abandoned under the creek bed. What happens with that?
A: They cut the ends of the line and seal the ends with grout. The pipe will remain. The pipe will help stabilize the creek bed.
Q: Are you going to be trenching?
A: Yes we will be trenching in a number areas. Those trenches will, of course, be repaired and the surface of the street will be
restored to its previous condition or better. The contract will also include the boring of creek crossings and major intersections
such as Airport Blvd. and Koenig Lane.
