Mop Up -
Crews begin extinguishing hot spots on the perimeter of the prescribed fire as soon as
ignition is complete. It is expected that fuel such as stumps and slash may continue
to smolder inside the burn unit following the end of the main burn. Crews patrol the
site for multiple days afterwards to ensure that embers do not ignite fuel outside the
control lines.
