Objectives - Each prescribed fire is conducted to achieve specific objectives in line with
land management goals. On some Water Quality Protection Lands the goal may be to reduce shrubs
and invigorate native grasslands. On the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve the goal may be to
create shrubby habitat for the endangered black-capped vireo by top killing vegetation which,
in turn, encourages root and stump sprouting.
