Commercial Toilet Replacement
Commercial properties can save $115 to $315 per toilet, per year when replacing water-wasting toilets with efficient
1.6 gpf models. To qualify, properties must be customers of Austin Water Utility (or an eligible MUD).
Customers have the option of receiving free toilets, or rebates on selected toilet models. Both the
Free Toilet Program and the Toilet Rebate Program require pre-approval before old
toilets are removed.
Commercial Toilet Rebate Program
The Toilet Rebate Option offers rebates for qualifying tank-type and
flush-valve toilets (when both the bowl and flush valve are replaced).
Only toilet models on the City's approved list are eligible for rebate; pre-application is required
to make sure both the property and the toilets you intend to purchase will qualify.
Rebate amounts vary based on the age of your existing toilet and the type of replacement toilet you choose:
- Replacing pre-1996 toilets with qualifying HET models -- up to $200 per toilet
- Replacing 1.6 gpf toilets with qualifying HETs -- up to $50 per toilet
- Installing HETs in new construction -- up to $50 per toilet
- Replacing pre-1992 flush valve toilets with qualifying models -- up to $175 (when both bowl and flush valve are replaced)
If a licensed plumber installs the toilet, the rebate covers both the cost of the toilet and the
installation cost up to the specified maximum.
Urinal Replacement Program
Rebates are available to replace blow-out type urinals using at least 3.0 gpf that
cannot be converted to 1.6 gpf or lower by changing the flush valve or flush valve
diaphragm. Up to $175 is available to replace both the urinal and flush valve
with a urinal using 0.5 gpf or less.
