WATER CONSERVATION PROGRAMS TO PARTICIPATE IN FOR ELIGIBILITY:

INFORMATION ON EACH PROGRAM:

Toilet Replacement Program:
If your home was built prior to 1996 and you have not previously replaced your old toilet(s), the City of Austin offers customers the opportunity to replace up to three (3) toilets with new efficient models. Customers may choose from toilets distributed free or at a reduced cost through the City’s voucher program, or purchase toilets on a list of qualifying models for a rebate of the pre-tax cost, up to a specified maximum amount.

WashWise Rebate Program:
Customers can earn rebates from Water Conservation, Austin Energy, and Texas Gas Service for purchasing a qualifying high-efficiency washing machine. These new washing machines use less water and energy, reduce drying times and are gentler on clothes.

Irrigation Audit & Follow-up Repairs Program:
If you have an underground irrigation system, and you use at least 25,000 gallons of water per month during the outdoor watering season, the licensed irrigation system specialists on the City’s Water Conservation staff will conduct a free evaluation of your irrigation system. Thereafter, in order to qualify for the new 2008 Honda Hybrid, you will be required to alter your controller program or repair your system as is recommended by the City. Typical recommendations include reducing pressure in the lines, fixing broken heads and installing a controller(s) that allows you to participate in the 5-day watering schedule. Following these recommendations often saves the homeowner 25-50% on their water bills.

Rainbarrel Program:
The City of Austin Water Conservation Program sells seventy-five (75) gallon rainbarrels customers below cost as a subsidized service. Up to four barrels may be purchased at any one time per installation address. For customers who purchase rainbarrel(s) from another source, the City will provide a rebate of up to $30 per rainbarrel. Customers will receive no more than one entry form per year for participating in this program.

Rainwater Collection System Rebate Program:
For customers who want larger capacity rainwater collection systems for their residence, the City offers rebates up to $500 on the cost of systems with at least a 300 gallon capacity. Rainwater collection systems can be sized to meet all of your outdoor watering needs, or to supplement your outdoor water use.

Attend a WaterWise Seminar:
If a customer has already participated in all other water conservation programs offered by the City of Austin, would prefer to attend the seminar, or is not a customer of the Austin Water Utility and not a customer of a wholesale water provider that receives its water from Austin, that person may attend a Water Conservation Seminar to become eligible to enter the drawing for the new 2008 Honda Hybrid donated by First Texas Honda. The 2008 water conservation seminars will start in June and continue every other month thereafter through December on the first Tuesday of those months (June 3, Aug. 5, Oct. 7, Dec. 2),, at 6:30pm in Room 105 of the Waller Creek Center (625 E. 10th St.).
