Brownfields
Austin Brownfields Revitalization Office

Test it, Clean it, Reuse it!

The City of Austin had the foresight and dedication to be a leader in the Brownfields community. In 1998, the City of Austin established the Austin Brownfields Revitalization Office. This office helps communities by partnering with local governments and other associations to support the revitalization of brownfields in their neighborhoods. The benefits to the community make it a winning situation for all parties involved.

Brownfields revitalization is a way to return a property to the community as a greenspace or as a commercial, residential or mixed use development.

For every one acre that is revitalized, four acres of greenspace are saved.
