Clean Creeks

CLean Creek CampaignEver notice how after a storm our creeks and river are "trashed"?
That's because rainwater washes pollutants down hill to the lowest point in the area -- the creek. Trash is the largest and most visible urban creek pollutant.

Litter can impact water quality by:

  • Decreasing oxygen levels as it decays in water
  • Adding pollutants from cigarette butts, batteries and containers that once held motor oil, paints, solvents, and other chemicals
  • Destroying aquatic habitat and organisms
