Baseflow- the constant flow of water to a creek that comes from groundwater

Environmental Integrity Index (EII)- the City’s tool for monitoring and assessing the ecological integrity and the degree of impairment of the creeks and streams occurring in the jurisdiction of the City of Austin. EII combines biological and physical criteria with chemical and toxicity data to provide a comprehensive assessment of the structure and integrity of the aquatic ecosystem.

Low Impact Development (LID)- is an environmentally-friendly approach to developing land and managing stormwater runoff that uses natural vegetation to treat stormwater runoff close to where it originates and allow it to infiltrate into groundwater.

Retrofit- The creation or modification of a stormwater management practice, usually in a developed area, that improves or combines treatment with existing stormwater infrastructure.
