Turn Around - Don't Drown

2010 Flood Safety Poster Contest

Illustrate the dangers of driving through flooded roadways and win cool prizes.

Posters must be brightly colored, 8 1/2 by 11, in landscape orientation, based on the theme "Turn Around - Don't Drown," and turned in by February 26, 2010. The contest is free. Read the detailed guidelines to find out how to submit your poster.

The goal is to raise flood awareness and reduce flood fatalities in and around Austin. Driving through flooded roads is the leading cause of deaths during a flash flood. It not only puts the driver's life at risk, but also the lives of passengers and emergency responders.

The contest is sponsored by the Austin American Statesman's Inside Line, the Texas Floodplain Management Association, the City of Austin and the National Weather Service.
