Grow With the Flow
The
1998 water quality poster, Grow With the Flow: Gardening Green
to Protect Austin's Creeks, promotes an environmentally- friendly
approach to gardening and landscaping. Excessive use of residential
fertilizers and pesticides causes pollution in Austin's waterways.
The poster sends the message to:
- Use native plants
- Fertilize naturally and sparingly
- Use pesticides only as a last resort
- Make and use compost
Multiple copies of eleven related books were
purchased for Austin Public Library branches. Companion bookmarks,
with graphics from the poster, contain a book and a native plant
list, pest management and fertilizer tips and composting techniques.
These were also made available at the libraries.
