1. Choose plants and grass
that require minimal chemical upkeep.
2. Avoid over-fertilizing and
never fertilize before a rain.
3. Avoid getting fertilizer on
sidewalks and driveways.
4. Use pesticides as a
last resort.

5. For a small spill, sprinkle
with sawdust or kitty litter, seal in a trash bag and put in
the trash. Do not wash in the gutter.
6. For a large spill that
could affect your creek, call the City's Environmental Hotline
at 974-2550.
7. Divert rooftop runoff onto
grass so water can be absorbed gradually.
8. Use wood decking, bricks or
interlocking stones for walkways and driveways so water can
be absorbed.

9. Dispose of used oil and antifreeze
by putting it in a sturdy container and taking it to your neighborhood
gas station or the City's Home Chemical Collection Facility.

10. Wash your car at a car wash
or where water flows into the grass.
